What has happened since we left the village of Steller's Grove?

In 2007 The BC Renaissance Festival opened its doors to a whole new world.

The Year was 1509 and King Henry VIII had succeeded his father as the King of England. In an attempt to take a census of his lands and people he sent the Duke and Duchess of Sussex off to gather necessary information and act as his representative. When they arrived in the small, sleepy shire of Steller's Grove they were confronted with the Duke's niece, Charity. Previously a member of the Duke's household (due to her parent's passing) she is now the Captain of the Pirate ship, the Jade Dragon.

During the day we discovered that:

Lord Gabbo, Charity's ex-fiance, was now engaged to her cousin Divinia.

The Duke had sent Charity away, expecting her to not survive, in order to marry his daughter to Lord Gabbo.

Both Lord Gabbo and The Duke are excessively in debt due to bad gambling habits and Charity uses that 'secret' as a bargaining tool in order to acquire a long list of supplies on the Duke's bill.

To top it off Charity holds the Sheriff for ransom and her crew dresses him in a.. well.. a dress.

At the end of the day they leave with supply, Divinia in Charity Firstmate's arms and the Duchess wishing she could be the first to have a divorce.

But what has happened to our beloved characters since then? Well.....

Read on and click on highlighted characters for a peek at their diary...

It is Summertime and the year is 1510. Some time has passed and our Duke and Duchess have learned to live without their daughter and have dismissed Lord Gabbo for his deception.

A deputy has been sent to Steller's Grove in order to assist the Sheriff with his tasks.

Even though a Deputy has been assigned to Steller's Grove, The Sheriff is still Sheriff. With a new doublet and a fresh view on life The Sheriff has convinced himself that nothing can ever happen to him ever again. By mid day he won't know who he should watch out for.. The Pirates or The Deputy who wants his job as Sheriff.

Along with the deputy, Steller's Grove has inherited 'landlords' in order to maintain the state of the property. Lord Ackley and Lady Lily are still attempting to adjust to thier new surroundings.

Charity has acquired another ship and is working on more. Her crews have begun to grow, even though she has lost a few crew members, and she is abusing her previous noble standing in order to work her way through the English Navy. The question becomes.. Do we still call her Captain or does this make her an Admiral?

For his own reasons, Cobbs remains Charity's Firstmate. Without Divinia, he returns to the true single pirate life, but he still holds secrets from his crewmates.

With Divinia now missing and a new ship in her hands, Charity is accussed of murder. No one really knows the truth.. Except her crew and they won't say a word.

Our smooth talking Gale is now Charity's new Quartermaster. He still plans to leave the pirate life behind one day but for now being Quartermaster suits him best.

King James IV and Queen Margaret have been blown off course by a wind storm and have settled into the bay near Steller's Grove.

On this wonderful day Steller's Grove is operating as if all is well but the night before a windstorm has tossed the Jade Dragon into the cove near by Steller's Grove. Captain Charity and her crew have once more wound up in Steller's Grove but so has Queen Margaret and King James of Scotland. To top it off, they have with them the father of one of The Jade Dragon's crew.

The Queen does not like Pirates nor what she considers rebellion. She will be reminding her adventurous husband that they are in her country now and he will behave

Of course the villagers of Steller's Grove

will be back to delight, entertain and converse.
