Aldergrove Fair
Written by: Christina Carr
In the past Aldergrove had two separate festivals but this year they merged it into one. We thought it was time to check it out.
With a new canopy and a nice range of costumes we headed down to the Township of Langley in order to attend. When we arrived we discovered rides, plenty of samples and a great variety of venders. In no time we were in nose distance of the chilly cook off and the cows for the cow milking. Martin's attention eventually took a side track to the tractors. His time on a farm (as a child) exposed him to a variety of such equipment and therefore took him down a memory lane he hadn't walked in a while.
This was Cory's first time out with us and his first opportunity to wear his new fencing shirt. He was only available for the Friday night but his height was valuable in setting up and his willingness to work was welcomed during the unloading of the vehicles. Jeff wore his 'Henry like' outfit as we put his armour on display. I am sure, if we had let him, he would have worn the armour all weekend. Tiff wore her Italian Renaissance Dress making the two of them a delightful royal couple. Danielle was fetching in my wench outfit and wore Chester proudly. Martin and I took pirate as variety is said to be the spice of life and spice does add flavour.
Over the weekend we were treated to samples by the various company promotions. Dole (Next door), Pepsi, Cool Aid, Tubes, Tim Horton's (Can't be Canada without a Timmy's), were only a few of the featured sampling. We met 'Grandma' and delighted in her fudge. Our new Psychic friend chatted while the same Henna girl from Sea Vancouver said hi and reconnected with us. Gio and the ice cream truck fed us while the mini golf kept us busy. CTV used the stocks in order to report on the weather and the gold panner down the way tempted the pirates into pillaging. I am proud that we were able to behave.... Mostly. The Lamas visited as did a woman and her parrot... The Fireworks were wonderful as well and was the perfect cap off to Saturday.
Jewelry, food, community, entertainment, artists, new friends, old friends, interesting conversations and definite inspirations... All things we hope to repeat next year.
