Hi "Newer"
We fully understand your concerns about transit. When we set out to start the BC Renaissance Festival, we did our research on what other Ren Faires in the US and Canada were doing, and we took surveys of local interested parties. The consensus was that most attendees did not mind a 45 minute to 1.5 hour drive from "downtown" to get to Festival grounds.
In the case of BCRF, we want to become a large permanent festival one day, and with that in mind we want to establish ourselves in a community where we may be able to acquire a permanent site of somewhere around 50-100 acres. Plots of that size are simply not available closer to Vancouver, and would be prohibitively expensive if they were.
However, we are trying to do our best to look after those who don't drive. We have made arrangements with the Navy league to run a bus from the Days Inn (King George Skytrain Station) to the festival site. Three runs out in the morning and three runs back in the evening. There is a minimum donation of $3 round trip for this service. For more info goto http://www.bcrenfest.com/storyetc.html#shuttle

...never been to a ren fest, but quite curious...however, no car, and can't find anyone interested in it that I can get a ride from.
I just wonder, can ren fest be place where public transportation is available? yes, no, and why?
Places like Vancouver, New West, Burnaby, or Richmond...

 We had an "oopsie".
We were getting a lot of spam on our Guestbook, an issue which I am happy to say is now corrected. However, in the process of upgrading the Guestbook application the database got wiped out, meaning all the entries went bye-bye. I've re-created things from an older backup (the one I took just before making changes was useless for technical reasons I won't go into here.) But that means that we've lost our last few posts. Please re-post if your comments are missing. We like hearing from visitors to our festival and our site, as well as our entertainers and vendors. If you have any questions or comments for me, please email me at the link provided. Thanks.

I was intrigued by the details of your costumes and would love to know if any of you used commercial patterns or did you design them yourself? I am trying to locate a selection of Renaissance era patterns as my son & future daughter-in-law are planning their wedding & want to do a Ren style affair. Guess who gets to do all the sewing??? --- Any assistance or guidance you can give would be greatly appreciated.

It was great meeting some of your crew at the Washington Renaissance Faire in Gig Harbor, WA in August, 2007. I am hoping that we can negotiate something and I can "cross the border" and come to perform and party with you in 2008. Drop by my web site and let's start a dialogue about next year. Cheers, Red

Had a fantastic time! Costumes were great, music was fun, and everything else was awesome! Oh by the way do you guys have a link for your upcoming events, fundraisers and such? Talk like a pirate day BBQ was on 9/15 at the Beach and was an absolute blast! (sword fights in the sand woo hoo!) I think more people would love to know about them. P.S. Bilbo's birthday party will be on 9/22 could you tell us where and when?

Great first year Faire! I can't wait to see it expand, and I very much want to be involved in the process. It's got a great amount of potential and I'm happy to see that it had such a great turnout, and hope for a better one next year!

Yes. You can dress like a fairy.. If you'd like to. As a customer and member of the audience you can dress as anything you would like to (as long as it is leagal ^_^ ). At other renfests I have seen Jedi, Wizards, Elves, Vikings, pirates... I have even seen a gentleman who likes to dress as a Centaur and a faun. Note: If you leave an email address we can directly get back to you with answers to questions. Thank you

Hi, guys! Glad to see you finally got your dream to become a reality - you are undefeatable! Will try to get involved if we can - summer is actually the busy season for both of us currently - but if we get any breaks at all, we're in. Again, congratulations and best of luck with everything - and thanks again to Martin and Christina for all your help and generosity in the past. You really deserve to have this fly! Happy jousting!

Fantastic another Ren Faire in Canada! I sew medieval / renaissance / colonial style costumes and have had booths with my son (who does leather work) in Ontario. If all goes well I hope to make it out to your Faire as a vendor this year. We'll see.
