2008 Storyline

It is Summertime and the year is 1510. The English Sleepy Shire of Steller’s Grove is having a typical quiet day.
Henry the Eighth has only sat on the throne for a year but is already exacting changes in his kingdom. A year ago The Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned from Steller’s Grove with bad news. The money owing to The King had been spent in order to keep pirates away from this little plagued village. Once more lying in order to keep his falsehoods hidden, The Duke convinces the King to invest in a Deputy for the Sheriff, who The Duke blames for the loss of village contribution.

With The King’s Sister married to James IV, King Of Scotland, Henry feels he has control over most situations on the sea and informs the King of such things as piracy. James’ confidence and pride keeps him from thinking of any pirate as a problem and continues his campaign for support in France and Scotland. James, also a secret supporter of the ‘lower classes’ wonders himself, if piracy is not better than his blood right lifestyle.

Now in the process of building his naval fleet and beginning the construction of his great ship The Carrack Michael, James was headed to France when a storm brings him back to England and into the bay near by Steller’s Grove. Insisting his wife join him on this latest trip (to attempt to relieve her depression caused by the death of their children) and recognising her distress caused by the storm, he decides to visit the small town long enough for her shakes to disappear and they can continue on their way.
This is a surprise visit to the town so the townsfolk and the Sheriff have not been informed. The town is caught off guard by the sudden appearance of a King and Queen and do their best to cater to their needs.

Little does anyone know that the Captain of the King’s ship is the father of Charity’s firstmate and that the Jade Dragon has been spotted near by, tossed in that direction by the same storm.

Security, Weapons & Pets Policies

All people entering into the site with a 'bladed weapon' (dagger, sword, etc.) or arrows must have them peace bonded. Swords must be peace bonded to your belt or to the sheath and arrows must be tied together in a bunch and left in their quiver. No replica or actual firearms permitted on site. Obvious toy weapons are acceptable but may be secured if security feels it necessary. If you have any questions please see staff or a member of the security team.

For people wishing to have pictures taken with their swords drawn there will be an area set aside for that and the weapon must be bonded again before leaving the area.

Swinging around staffs or bows can be taken as an aggressive move and the weapon can be removed for the duration of the day. If you draw your bow and attempt to dry fire it can also be taken away for the duration of the day. Save posing with your bow for the photo area. Note: It is never recommended that you dry fire a bow AND you can not nock an arrow in any area other than the archery range. This will not even be tolerated in the photo area.

If your weapon is not peace bonded upon entering the fair you will be asked to either bond it or return it to your car for the duration of your visit to the fair.

Weapons Vendors will either peace bond or wrap the weapon securely after the sale of a weapon.

Some members of the ensemble will be 'stage fighting' throughout the grounds. We can tell the difference between our actors and a 'playtron' by the small BCRF badge that they will be wearing. Please do not try to 'join in' on the show.

Thank you for playing safe.

Re: Pets

Due to a few situations over the last few years (Near by or directly in front of our booth) we have chosen to make our festival Pet free. Any animals that are performing will have to be approved by the entertainment director. If you have traveled with your pet please make arrangements to leave them at your campsite/hotel/friend's home/with a sitter.

Handycap assist animals (such as guide dogs) are accepted but must remain with their owners at all times and on a leash (or equivalent). Please be responsible with your working animals and clean up after them.

To patrons: Please respect working animals. Do not approach them, talk to them, offer your hand to them or feed them without permission from the owners. Working animals can include performance show and demonstration animals as well as assist animals.
